Here's yet another cactus of the Scrub. It's called tasajillo, or pencil cactus. It's closely related to the prickly pear, but looks quite different. It's built in joints that break off easily. If you're unwise enough to brush up against it, you will end up with pieces of it attached to you! This helps spread it around. They don't call it the Thorn Scrub for nothing!
