Oh my gosh! Another predator! It's Indio the Indigo Snake! He's the largest snake in the Scrub, sometimes surpassing 8 feet in length! He's non-venomous, like most of the snakes out here, and like Hernan the Horned Lizard, he's protected in Texas. It's illegal to hurt him! And he eats almost any kind of animal! Fish, frogs, lizards, turtles, birds, mammals, even other snakes! In fact, Indio is extremely resistant to rattlesnake venom and will eat rattlesnakes with little hesitation! That's why he's great for humans to have around! But not packrats! Gotta move....
