Mexican milk snake (Lampropeltis
triangulum annulata) - A "coral snake mimic,"
the milk snake has red and yellow bands separated
by black. Non-venomous snakes with red, black, and
yellow bands are often called "tricolors,"
or "candy-canes." It is not as common
as the coral snake in our area and is seldom seen.
It is quite harmless and usually good-tempered.
This and its bright colors make it a popular snake
in the pet trade.
